Public television station KPTS/Channel 8 in Wichita has announced a new president and chief executive officer.

Victor Hogstrom has extensive experience in public and commercial media dating back to the 1970s. His work includes a term as president and CEO/general manager for KCPT in Kansas City, as well as for stations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Chico-Redding, California. He holds several degrees from Brigham Young University.

Hogstrom said in a news release announcing his hire that the possibilities are endless for the station and the community--all of which, he says, will benefit viewers and make KPTS a favorite in Wichita.

Previous manager Michele Gors resigned last year. Dave McClintock has been serving as an interim.

Hogstrom is scheduled to begin his new position in October.
