Kevin Francis Kelly

September 20, 1943 ~ September 12, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Mr. Kevin Francis Kelly, 73, resident of Lewisville, died September 12, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

Mr. Kelly was born September 20th, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son to the late Martin and Margaret Kelly.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, earning a Commendation Award for Meritorious Service as Sports Director of the Armed Forces Korea Network (Seoul; 1965-67). In 1968, he married the former Carol Lucier (of Holyoke, Massachusetts), who preceded him in death in 2007. Kevin enjoyed a nearly 50 year career informing and entertaining the public as a radio and television journalist, holding various positions ranging from radio disc-jockey and sports reporter, to TV anchorman and News Director. While he garnered multiple awards along the way (Edward R. Murrow, Associated Press, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences), Kevin most wanted to be remembered as a reliable teammate and trusted mentor at his many stops (WGHP-TV, WPXT-TV, WPTF-TV, WSPA-TV, WTRG-FM, WWLP-TV, among others), and most of all, as a loving father and loyal husband.

Surviving are three sons: Sean Kelly of Beaverton, Oregon; Brendan Kelly and wife Andrea Tacy of Davidson, NC; and Ryan Kelly and husband Justin Nichols of Greensboro. In addition, his partner Susan Jewell of Lewisville, a brother, Paul Kelly of Scarborough, Maine, and two grandchildren, Aiden and Liam Tacy-Kelly.
