Protecting the First Amendment begins behind-the-scenes.

David Rhodes, president of CBS News, is a champion of the highest journalism standards. He is a staunch defender of the First Amendment and its critical four words, “or of the press,” that refer to the media. He works every day to ensure everyone on the CBS News team upholds the Network’s strong journalistic standards and fights to protect the precious freedom of the press.

Rhodes was named president of CBS News in 2011 and oversaw the creation of CBS This Morning in 2012. CTM has added more than 1 million viewers to CBS in the morning. And in 2014, he oversaw the launch of CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 digital streaming news network, which is drawing an audience with a median age of 38.

Prior to CBS, Rhodes served as the head of U.S. Television at Bloomberg L.P. where he was responsible for all programming and editorial coverage. Earlier in his career, Rhodes was the vice president of news at the Fox News Channel, where oversaw daily news reports and breaking news.

This year, more than any in RTDNF’s history, it is essential that we honor those who have distinguished themselves as defenders of the First Amendment. On Thursday, March 8 RTDNF will present David Rhodes with the First Amendment Service Award at the 2018 First Amendment Awards Dinner & Show in Washington, D.C.

We invite you to be a part of RTDNF’s premier annual fundraiser where we will shine a light on the critical role news media plays in American society. To purchase tickets and tables, visit .
