Previous Story

WITN-TV lost a valuable member of its family with the passing of Stephanie Shoop, our news director.

Stephanie unexpectedly died at her home in Washington this morning.

Not only was Stephanie the leader of our news department, but she was also wife of WITN's Dave Jordan.

"As our news director, Stephanie was passionate about what she did and who she did it with, especially here in eastern North Carolina," said Mark Gentner, WITN vice president & general manager. "She was our newsroom leader, mentor, coach, mom and friend. Although we will miss her tremendously, her legacy will live on."

Stephanie, who was just 46 years old, came to WITN in 1998 as a newscast producer. She was promoted to executive producer in 2000, and then named news director in 2001.

In addition to Dave, Stephanie is survived by two children, David and Grace.

Our condolences to her family.
