POCATELLO — One of the most recognized television news faces in east Idaho is making a return to the airways next month.

Brenda Baumgartner Stanley will be co-anchoring KPVI News 6 at 10 p.m. in May. She will join Matt Davenport at the anchor desk as she fills in for Melissa Hackney, who is on maternity leave.

“Melissa is enjoying her new baby and this is a great opportunity for me to do what I love,” Stanley tells EastIdahoNews.com. “I hope it is something the people of eastern Idaho will enjoy.”

Stanley was the news director and anchor at KPVI when she retired in 2011 after working 15 years at the station.

“She obviously has a wealth of experience and is one of the most recognized local news talent in the market,” says Greg Schieferstein, KPVI’s news director. “She’s a great anchor, great producer and a great reporter. We’re happy to have her back.”

Stanley will anchor weekdays at 10 p.m. from May 1 to 26.

“I’m really excited. It feels like I’m back home,” she says.
