Telemundo restructures management roles at local stations across the country

January 11, 2023 by Veronica Villafañe

Telemundo is doing some leadership changes at four Telemundo local stations across the country.

Effective immediately, Andrew Deschapelles, president and GM of Telemundo Phoenix and Telemundo Tucson since 2018, will also lead Telemundo 48 El Paso, following Lorena Castañeda’s retirement.

Migdalia Figueroa, named president and GM of Telemundo 31 Orlando in 2020, expands her role to include oversight of Telemundo Tampa and Telemundo Ft. Myers.

Jose Suarez, who took leadership of a group of stations acquired from Serestar in 2019, remains President and GM of Telemundo Fresno and Telemundo Sacramento, drops his GM role at Telemundo Salt Lake City, and adds oversight of Telemundo Las Vegas, as Ramiro López moves into a newly created regional sales leadership role.

Tatiana Arguello, who has been president and GM of Telemundo Colorado since 2019, will now also oversee Telemundo Salt Lake City.

Telemundo has yet to announce who will replace Tony Canales as general manager for KTMD and KASA. Canales was named president and GM of NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 in Dallas-Fort Worth last week.

According to an email sent to staff, the restructuring “follows a reassessment” of Telemundo’s businesses that will help the company “remain competitive in our fast-changing industry.”

Great! The highest level of leadership now doing the job of 2 or even 3 people. I can see how that will reflect on employees and results.
