WNBC/WNJU-TV, New York, NY…this NBC owned duopoly (NBC and Telemundo) is posting a job for news director to oversee both stations, prompted by ALEXA RODRIGUEZ’s decision to step down as ND for WNJU. Here are two memos, first from the duopoly’s Senior VP of News, AMY MORRIS, and followed by an email from Alexa explaining her decision to step down.

KMGH-TV, Denver, CO…you learned via Saturday’s UPDATE of a massive newsroom management overhaul at this Scripps/ABC station, ND MEGAN (JURGEMEYER) McRAE, Assistant ND OLIVIA DICKINSON, and Digital Director LANDON HAAF left the station, apparently walked out of the building. GM BRIAN JOYCE sent this note to the staff. Megan had been ND since for about 2 1/2 years: earlier she was ND at KUSA-TV in Denver.

And one update on a move we first reported two weeks ago. We told you that DAVID JOHNS was moving from ND at Sinclair’s WBFF-TV (FOX) in Baltimore to a role at corporate. We learned late today that his title in that new job will be Director of News and Operations.

Obituary:
Hart
JIM HART, who followed in the footsteps of his father as the general manager for WBIR-TV in Knoxville, died Thursday. He was 83. He was later promoted to a regional role with Scripps before retiring from broadcasting when he was 60. Jim went on to serve as President of Friends of the Smokies which worked to preserve Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Here’s a detailed obituary, while WBIR’s report is here.

Former news director and former Poynter faculty member SCOTT LIBIN lives in Minneapolis, where he teaches at the University of Minnesota. He offers his perspective on media coverage of recent events in the Twin Cities. His comments first appeared in DAVE BUSIEK’s Substack.
Sinclair Broadcasting has taken over Rincon Broadcasting’s KOKI-TV (FOX) in Tulsa, and moved the station to a digital channel of its ABC affiliate there, KTUL-TV.
We told you late last year that JENNIFER PERKINS was leaving Gray’s WYMT-TV in Hazard, KY and would be replaced by JOSH WHITE. We did not know then…but learned in this story celebrating her time at WYMT…that she’s going to become Publisher of the News Journal in Corbin, KY.
Finally, congratulations to GARY SIEBER who celebrated his 45th anniversary at WNDU-TV (NBC) in South Bend, IN, this week. Gary served as news director for six of those years, from 1985-1991.
