We have ONE newly named, news director as a veteran newsman completes the Ohio hat trick. And there are TWO new openings.
Those changes mean our count of open ND jobs increases, for the second straight week, to 26.
ONE of those openings is featured in a paid help wanted ad.

In Names in the News, The Washington Post examines the first month of BARI WEISS’s time as Editor in Chief of CBS News. Meanwhile, a ten year veteran of the talent strategy team has left CBS.
And Sinclair made what seems to me to be an odd request of CHARLIE KIRK’s widow, ERIKA KIRK.

WBNS-TV, Columbus, OH…STEVE HYVONEN completes the Ohio hat track as he gets his THIRD Ohio ND job at this Tegna owned CBS affiliate. He’s previously helmed newsrooms at WXIX-TV in Cincinnati and WEWS-TV in Cleveland (as well as in Orlando and Birmingham). For the last 1 1/2 years he’s been the Managing Editor for WFTV in Orlando. Steve replaces RICK McLAUGHLIN who left in July after 2 years.
New News Director Openings:

WISC-TV, Madison, WI…KYLE FOBE left this Morgan Murphy owned CBS affiliate last month after 2+ years as news director. Kyle’s also been a news director in South Bend, IN, and Altoona, PA. KXMR-TV, Colorado Springs, CO…JOE COLE has left this Nexstar owned FOX affiliate just one month short of his 25th anniversary. He was hired as the main anchor, then became both main anchor and news director, and, at the time of his departure, was news director only. He’s worked in a number of other markets as you will learn by checking out Joe’s LinkedIn page.

Meanwhile CBS’s Senior Vice President of Talent Strategy and Development, LAURIE ORLANDO, is the latest executive to leave CBS News. More details from Variety. Her last day was last Friday, but before she left she sent this note to her co-workers. Laurie left just a few months short of her tenth anniversary at CBS. She’d held a similar position at ESPN before joining CBS.
The Hollywood Reporter reports on what seems like an unusual exchange between executives from Sinclair Broadcasting and ERIKA KIRK, widow of murdered conservative activist CHARLIE KIRK. The story says the representatives of Sinclair asked her if she wanted them to reach out to JIMMY KIMMEL to secure an apology over the comments that lead to his short term suspension.
