KWCH 12 Promotes Kim Wilhelm to News Director

Assistant News Director Kim Wilhelm will lead the KWCH 12 news department as news director for Eyewitness News. Wilhelm has served as acting news director since October 2.

“Kim has been an essential part of the continual success of Eyewitness News,” KWCH 12 Vice President and General Manager Brad Moses said. “Kim is a proven leader with a forward-looking vision that will enhance Eyewitness News. She is well respected in our community and is committed to serving our viewers with the highest journalistic standards.”

While at KWCH 12 Wilhelm has served as assistant news director, managing editor, and as part of the Fact Finder 12 investigative unit. While serving in leadership roles, Wilhelm has guided a nationally award winning team responsible for multiple Edward R Murrow National awards including breaking news and continuing coverage. In nine years as a reporter at KWCH 12 she has covered every major story in Kansas from BTK to the Greensburg and garnered multiple local awards.

Prior to joining KWCH 12, Wilhelm worked as a multimedia journalist in Grand Island, Nebraska and as a general assignment reporter in Omaha, Nebraska.

Wilhelm is Nebraska native and a graduate of Hastings College. She is married with two sons and in her free time she enjoys cheering for her beloved Huskers.
