KMOV (Channel 4) parted ways Monday with news director Brian Thouvenot.
Thouvenot, a Metro East resident who in March 2014 replaced longtime news director Sean McLaughlin, could not be reached for comment.
Station general manager Mike Murphy said he could not comment on personnel matters, then added that the station would "aggressively pursue the hiring of a replacement."
In his two-plus years at the helm, Thouvenot picked up both kudos and criticism.
He directed reporter Craig Cheatham and photographers Jim Thomas and Ryan Bellamy in producing "The Injustice System: Cops, Courts and Greedy Politicians," which won a prestigious Alfred I. DuPont Award for journalism.
On the flip side, Thouvenout was chided on FTVLive, a national television news site , for a story the station did about a ballet performance featuring his daughter. The story, which carried no disclaimer, interviewed the girl and directed viewers to where tickets could be bought.
