Boston 25 (WFXT-TV) today announced that Scott Isaacs will join the award-winning station as News Director.
Isaacs spent the last seven years as News Director at WJAR NBC 10 in Providence, RI. During his tenure, WJAR often outrated all of its competitors combined and regularly ranked among the top 3 highest rated NBC affiliates in America. The newsroom was also honored with multiple New England Emmy and Regional Edward R. Murrow awards for Best Newscast and was recognized twice by RTDNA for Overall Excellence (2021, 2024). Under Isaacs’ leadership, WJAR saw significant increases in engagement on its digital properties, including year-to-year growth of more than 4,000 percent on the station’s YouTube channel.
“We’re excited to have Scott join the Boston 25 family,” said Todd Brown, station VP and General Manager. “This appointment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality local news, weather, traffic, sports and other programming our viewers love.
“Scott brings an award-winning pedigree to a station that’s already been well recognized across the industry,” Brown continued. “That includes multiple Emmy awards and the 2023 Massachusetts’s Station of the Year.”
Prior to his time at WJAR-TV, Isaacs spent 13 years at Hearst’s WCVB-TV. For most of his tenure, he served as Executive Producer and Sports Director, helping lead coverage of breaking events including the Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, the capture and trial of mobster James “Whitey” Bulger, and the fall of football star Aaron Hernandez.
“Local news has never been more important than it is right now,” Isaacs said. “I’m honored to be joining the talented staff at Boston 25. I’m excited about evolving Boston 25′s innovative news product so that we are there whenever and wherever our viewers need us.”
Isaacs graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He’s a native of Albany, NY, and resides in greater Boston with his wife Sharman.
