Greetings:
Just ONE news director on the move this week, but it’s an interesting move as she drops 140 markets…but gets closer to family.
And there are NO new openings to my knowledge, dropping our count of stations looking for a new news director to 25.

And we welcome a new advertiser, longtime Houston and Dallas meteorologist TIM HELLER and his new company, HellerWeather. Tim is offering on-camera coaching for meteorologists, seminars and workshops on creating relevant, engaging weather content for all platforms. Newly Named News Director:

KBZK/KXLF-TV, Butte/Bozeman, MT…former Oklahoma City News Director REBECCA GAYLORD has been named ND for this Scripps owned operation. She has family in the area. Rebecca most recently spent six years as ND for Hearst’s KOCO-TV, a job she left in August after six years. She’s also worked in Albuquerque, Denver, and St. Louis. At these CBS stations, Rebecca replaces KEVIN STANFIELD who’s held dual roles as anchor and ND for the last 18 months. Kevin will continue to anchor there.

* 5+ years’ experience in newsroom management.
* Strategic thinking – can identify market opportunities and capitalize on them.

Former Boston News Director ED BELL has been named Marblehead Chamber of Commerce’s Person of the Year. He may have retired from TV in 2006, but you’ll learn here that he’s stayed busy.

If and when the Nexstar purchase of Tribune is approved, WILLIAM SALLY will take a new position at Nexstar as Executive Vice President of Sales. He’s currently a Senior VP and Regional GM for the company. More details here.

MICHELLE HARPER will be the next general manager for Cox Media Group’s WHBQ-TV in Memphis. It’s a promotion within Cox for Michelle, who once was General Sales Manager for the company’s WSOC-TV in Charlotte and most recently has been VP/Sales for the company. She has a varied background in sales positions, working for ABC, Sinclair, and Capitol Broadcasting. Learn more about Michelle and her background in this news release.
Sioux City, IA’s, KPTH-TV is getting a new GM. KATHAN JAGER is being promoted at this FOX affiliate from her current role as General Sales Manager, a position she’s held since 2012. She’ll also oversee KMEG-TV via .a joint sales agreement.
