Greetings:

Welcome to our weekly report on comings and goings of news directors and news managers, with a touch of GM news each issue.

This week, just ONE new ND opening, and ONE open position has been filled. Our always unofficial count of ND openings stands at 21.

We have FIVE new help wanted ads this week, including one for the job as Executive Director of RTDNA/RTDNF. The other four ads are for positions in top ten markets! Check them out below.

As you know, the Nexstar purchase of Media General is final, and they wasted no time filling a number of general manager openings. That’s below, along with the retirement of a longtime West Virginia GM and some news managers on the move.

Read on for all the details.

WGFL-TV, Gainesville, FL…ANDREA CLENNEY has left this Sinclair Broadcasting operated CBS affiliate that’s owned by New Age Media. She’d been news director there since last May in her second stint as an ND in Gainesville: earlier in her career she was the ND at WCJB-TV. She’s also been an ND in Columbus, GA, Greenville, NC, and Wilmington, NC, and has also worked in Denver, Orlando, Tampa, Austin, Syracuse, and Augusta, GA.

Newly Named News Directors:

WPBF-TV, Palm Beach, FL…TRAVIS SHERWIN has been promoted to news director for this Hearst owned ABC affiliate. He’s a 19 year Hearst veteran who’s been the Assistant ND here for the past three years. He’s also worked in Orlando, Ft. Myers, and Casper, WY. He replaces PAIGE HARRISON who was promoted to be ND for Hearst’s WCVB-TV in Boston late last year.

Also this week, we’ve removed the ND opening at WCAX-TV in Burlington, VT, from our list of open ND jobs.. Station President PETER MARTIN emailed to say the vacancy created by the departure of ANSON TEBBETS late last year had been filled by a promotion of the #2. He didn’t give me that name, though, and hasn’t yet responded to my inquiry. When he does, I’ll let you know. UPDATE 1/25/17:  PETER MARTIN responded with word that ROGER GARRITY, who’d been the executive producer, has been promoted to news director.
