And we’re repeating our ad for a VERY interesting job at a strong North Carolina TV station. It’s not an ND position, yet they want someone with five years as an ND. NEW NEWS DIRECTOR OPENINGS:
KTVX-TV, Salt Lake City, UT…TOM BELL is leaving one Newport owned TV station for another. He’ll be the next ND at WOAI-TV in San Antonio. More on that below. Tom’s been the ND for this ABC affiliate since June, 2008.
WHEC-TV, Rochester, NY…MIKE GOLDRICK is leaving this Hubbard-owned NBC affiliate to take over the ND job at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh. Mike’s been the ND here since November, 2006, and will leave after the November rating period. More on Goldrick in our next item.
NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:
Goldrick
WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh, PA….MIKE GOLDRICK has been named ND for this Cox-owned NBC affiliate. We told you above that Mike is currently the ND for WHEC-TV in Rochester, NY. He’s been there three years, and previously served as an EP for KOMO-TV in Seattle. He’s also worked in West Palm Beach, Charlotte, Tampa, Houston, and Detroit. At WPXI, he replaces CORRIE HARDING who left the station in September after four years as news director.
WOAI-TV, San Antonio, TX…as mentioned above, TOM BELL will be the next ND for this Newport-owned NBC affiliate. Tom’s been the ND for Newport’s KTVX-TV in Salt Lake City for the last year and a half. He’s a former ND in Phoenix and Detroit, and also served two stints as an Assistant ND in St. Louis. Tom replaces AARON RAMEY who left the station in October after two years as ND.
Takahashi
WAND-TV, Decatur, IL…TAI TAKAHASHI has been named news director for this Block Communications owned NBC affiliate. Tai’s a former ND in Lexington, KY, who’s also worked in Seattle, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Wichita, and Topeka. He replaces JIM PLATZER who left the station in May to become ND for WFMY-TV in Greensboro, NC. Jim was ND here for more than three years.
KAUZ-TV, Wichita Falls, TX…TALIA NAQUIN is the new ND for this Drewry owned CBS affiliate. She’s originally from the area, has most recently worked at WSFL-TV in Ft. Lauderdale, and has also worked in Jacksonville and Lawton, OK. Talia replaces DAN GARCIA.
Manson
Also, group broadcaster Nexstar this week eliminated its VP/News position, leaving CHRIS MANSON out of work. The company blamed the economy and a need to reduce corporate overhead. Chris had been in that position since 2006. He’d previously been an ND at the company’s WMBD-TV in Peoria. He’s also worked in Scranton, PA, and Monterey-Salinas, CA.

NAMES IN THE NEWS:
JEFF GILLAN moves cross-town in Las Vegas to become the new Assistant ND for KVBC-TV there. Jeff had been the anchor and managing editor for a 9:00 newscast on Las Vegas One, the cable channel owned by KLAS-TV in Las Vegas. That newscast shutdown last month. The move reunites him with new KVBC ND BOB STOLDAL, who had been the VP/News at KLAS before retiring last year.
GARY DARIGOL has been named Assistant ND/Content Manager for WSJV-TV in South Bend/Elkhart, IN. Gary’s a former ND for KEZI-TV in Eugene, OR, and previously worked in Spokane, Yakima, and Springfield, IL.
