Sunday, November 8, 2009 UPDATE:
There’s one more new ND in a top 25 market to report. KERRI CAVANAUGH has been named ND for WSFL-TV, the Tribune-owned independent in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami market. Kerri has been an EP at WFTS-TV, the ABC affiliate in Tampa. She replaces JOSE SUAREZ who left the station after less than a year on the job. WSFL produces a morning newscast in conjunction with the Tribune-owned Sun-Sentinel newspaper.
Saturday, November 7, 2009 UPDATE:
Harding
CORRIE HARDING starts November 30th as the next ND for Belo’s WCNC-TV (NBC) in Charlotte. Corrie most recently was the ND for WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh. He left that job in September after four years in what both he and GM RAY CARTER said was a mutual decision. At WCNC, he replaces MARY ALVAREZ who was named Executive Producer for Local Programming for WCNC in August after more than four years as ND and nine years at the station.
Those changes leave our completely unofficial count of ND openings at 29.

NEW NEWS DIRECTOR OPENINGS:
WHAM-TV, Rochester, NY…STEVE DAWE is leaving this Newport Television owned ABC affiliate to become Director of Multi-Media Engagement for WXXI-TV, the PBS affiliate in Rochester. Steve’s been the ND here for more than three years, and was the station’s promotion director before that. Before he joined WHAM, he was the ND for WUHF-TV, the FOX affiliate in Rochester.
Dawson
KIDK-TV, Idaho Falls, ID…this Fisher Broadcasting owned CBS affiliate is looking for a new ND to replace TED DAWSON, who’s held that job since November. Ted had been the Sports Director there before he was promoted to ND. He’ll continue as the station’s Sports Director. Earlier in his career, Ted anchored sports for two different Los Angeles stations.
NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:
Morales
WNJU-TV, Teterboro, NJ…JOSE MORALES has been named VP/News for the Telemundo o-and-o. He’s been Director of Digital Content for Telemundo Local Media. I assume (I know, that’s dangerous) that he is replacing HUGO BALTA. You’ll remember we told just last month that Hugo had been laid off from his job as ND here.
Tadlock
WSAZ-TV, Charleston/Huntington, WV…congratulations to GROVER TADLOCK who has been promoted to ND for this Gray TV-owned NBC affiliate. Grover is currently the Managing Editor here. His first job was in that market as a part-time photographer. He was promoted to Director of Photography in 2005 and bumped to Managing Editor in 2007. He replaces SCOTT SAXTON who left the station in September to become ND for WECT-TV in Wilmington, NC.
