Greetings: This week saw THREE new News Director openings, including one today in Indianapolis where a veteran news director left her station. THREE other stations named a new ND (though all three have previous ND experience). That means our count of open ND jobs remains at 30. Thursday, August 16, 2012 UPDATE: Greetings: Longtime news director PEGGY PHILLIP has left KSHB-TV in Kansas City. She’s been ND at this Scripps owned-NBC affiliate for more than three years. Peggy’s also been an ND in Baltimore, Syracuse, Memphis and Tulsa. She’s also worked in Reno, Miami, Boston and Chicago. The vacancy now leaves ND openings at three of Scripps’ 13 stations. A fourth opening, at KJRH-TV in Tulsa, was filled last week (details below). More details on a busy week in our next full report. Greetings: As always, it was nice to see some of you at this week’s Unity Conference in Las Vegas. (More on that at the end of this section of the newsletter.) It’s been a busy week. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 UPDATE: A veteran news director moves cross country and returns to Florida. TIM GERAGHTY, the ND for Gannett’s KXTV in Sacramento, has been named Senior Director of News/Station Manager for Central Florida News 13 in Orlando. Tim’s been ND for this ABC affiliate since May, 2009, but earlier in his career he was ND for WTVJ-TV in Miami. He’s also been an ND in Grand Rapids, MI, and has also worked in Kansas City, Kalamazoo, MI, Decatur, IL, and Columbia, MO. He replaces STEVE CHAVARIE who retired last November.
